Dashy Crashy Review [iOS]

dashycrashy_iconEndless runner type games are a dime-a-dozen these days. Some of them are really amazing while other are deleted 5 minutes after being installed. I’m happy to report that Dumpling Design’s latest game, Dashy Crashy is most definitely not a stinker and is a fun, casual time waster that’s worth a spot your device.

PlayStation Messages Review [iOS]

PSmessages_iconLike many of you who own a PS4, you’re probably using the PlayStation app to see who is online at times and what they are playing. The problem with the app is that it’s quite clunky and slow and can at times not even load. Sony decided to pull the message feature out of the app and make a new standalone PlayStation Messages app. That means that you will need to download this app now if you want to chat on PSN, but based on my experience with the app so far, it’s faster, has more features, and the user interface is much cleaner and nicer than the original app.

Star Wars Battlefront Companion App Review [iOS/Android]

battlefront_iconIf you’re a Star Wars fan, more than likely you are playing EA and DICE’s latest, Star Wars Battlefront. It’s a game that has had some mixed reviews mainly for its lack of a single player, story driven option and its focus on multiplayer only modes. For fans though, it’s a game that is rich with Star Wars imagery and a game that allows us to fulfill our dreams of crushing the rebellion or overthrowing the empire. Whether it’s flying an X-Wing fighter or playing as Darth Vader, Star Wars Battlefront is a game that has a lot of Star Wars details baked in that most Star Wars fans will go gaga over – my self included. What if you want more from your experience that extends beyond the game? I suggest downloading the Star Wars Battlefront Companion App on either iOS or Android.

Smashy Road: Wanted Review [iOS]

smashyroad_iconHow many of you have played any of Grand Theft Auto before? If you take away the violence, the gun play, the crimes, the story, and pretty much everything that’s controversial about the game, you get a rather good driving game. Albeit a driving game where you’re mostly trying to out run cops. If you want that same experience on mobile, you should check out Smashy Road: Wanted by developer RK Games. Smashy Road: Wanted takes that GTA driving experience and shrinks it down, simplifies it to its basic mechanics, and sticks it in an isometric, blocky experience.

HeyHey Apps is back again with another educational kids game based on the art of famed Belgium street artist, Bué the Warrior. Zoombinis Review – A Classic Game for a New Generation of Players [iPad]

zoombinis_iconTo be perfectly honest, I’ve never heard of the game Zoombinis before. This was an educational game that appears to have been really popular in the late 90’s, but that could be because in the late 90’s, I was already in college and not too much into educational games. After doing a little research, I came to discover that Zoombinis has had a rather interesting and storied past. It’s a story that would be worthy of a full length documentary but not one that I’ll go into detail here. Instead, lets talk about the game itself, one that took years in the making to arrive in the form we have it today.

Sage Solitaire Review [iOS]

sagesolitaire_iconIf there’s one game that I think everyone has played, it’s Solitaire. Whether it be with physical cards or once on a Windows PC, I’m sure we’ve all sat there and played this once addicting game. I know I still play it from time to time when I’m bored at the office and while the game is pretty timeless, having a new way to play it wouldn’t hurt. That’s where Sage Solitaire comes in. Sage Solitaire is a new way of playing traditional Solitaire which combines elements of Klondike and Poker.

PAC-MAN 256 Review [iOS]

pacman256_iconDo you like Pac-Man? If the answer is yes, you might want to check out the latest free-to-play Pac-Man game from NAMCO called, PAC-MAN 256. Unlike the Pac-Man you knew in the past, this version of the game is billed as an endless runner with Pac-Man traversing an endless maze collecting PAC-DOTZ and avoiding those pesky ghosts. On a side note, this game was created by the same devs who made Crossy Road.

Shape Gurus Review [iOS]

shapegurus_iconShape Gurus is the latest educational app in the “Gurus” series from developer Colto. Their previous apps include Star Gurus and ABC Gurus. One dealt with numbers while the other one with letters. This time around, Shape Gurus deals with recognizing different shapes as well as colors. Shape Gurus is an app designed for really young children who are just learning about their basic shapes and colors and with lots of visual and audio clues, this just might help them learn their shapes quicker.

Escort Live Radar Review [iOS]

escort_iconAs a driver, one of the things we fear the most is seeing those familiar red and blue lights flashing behind us or having a police flag us down. Nothing ruins your day more than getting a traffic ticket. That could be why apps like Waze and other traffic reporting apps have been so popular lately. They allow you to spot where the police are beforehand and adjust your driving accordingly. Though the police may not like this, there is very little that can do about it.

If you want to be really prepared, pair one of these apps up with a radar detector, not only will you get crowd sourced police sightings, you’ll also be able to spot them yourself in real-time. Take for instance the Escort Live Radar app which is meant to work in conjunction with an Escort Live compatible radar detector. This app provides a database of “threat” locations as well as cord sourced information of live police sightings.
